Exhibition Entries.
There was a glitch that prevented image uploads for a time today, so I have extended the deadline for exhibition entries to midnight Monday.
As the exhibition is intended to be as showcase for our work, we’d like to get entries from as many members as we can.
All you need to do is upload 1 or 2 images, and the club will arrange printing and mounting.
Any problems – call, text or email me.

Up coming event clarification – Benalla Airshow 5 November 2022
Hi all. Firstly a correction needed by myself as I inadvertently announced at our recent AGM that the pending Airshow Management was Tony Bennett. It is indeed Mr Paul Bennett of Paul Bennett Airshows. There are entry fees associated with the show that will allow best vantage point viewing and this can be found at the following link:
https://ausair.sales.ticketsearch.com/sales/salesevent/76773
Hope to see you all there.
Cheers for now,

CANCELLED – Country Life Photo Shoot and BBQ – 23 Sept.
Unfortunately the photo shoot at Alan & Janine Neander’s Farm on Friday night (Sept 23) has been cancelled due to extremely muddy conditions and the probability of rain on Friday. We are very sorry to do this as I know many of us were looking forward to it.
For anyone who still needs to obtain some “Country Life” images, Alan and Janine have kindly offered to allow access to their shearing shed and some of their animals on an individual basis. Ideally not for the next week or so as rain is predicted for most days, but hopefully it will start to dry out soon. “Country Life” images are due for submission by 7 October. Alan can be contacted on mobile 0447 818 789.
For those wanting to hone their Astro Skills, we are hoping for a second attempt at the Neander Windmill in mid October (weather permitting). We will endeavour to include a BBQ again. This will be advertised closer to the time so stay tuned.

Benalla Camera Club:
An Exhibition of Members’ Works.
We have managed to secure a venue for a Camera Club exhibition as part of the Benalla Festival.
The exhibition will run from Sat October 29th till Sun November 6th, 10 am – 5pm.
It will be held at Bridge Street Studios (the old SEC building) at 122-124 Bridge St.
Competition and social members are invited to submit one or two images to be shown at the exhibition.
The images will be printed and mounted by the club. If you submit a single image it will be printed at a size suitable for a 40cm x 50cm mount as used for the VAPS competition. If you choose to submit two images, they will be printed to suit a smaller 30cm x 40cm mount. This is expected to enable all members to take part in the exhibition.
The cost of printing and mounting images will be covered from the grant obtained from the Benalla council for this purpose.
Exhibition entries may be submitted via the club Website, where you will find a new collection for “Exhibition Entries”.
To enable the images to be printed at a suitable quality, images up to 7Mb, at 7680×4320 resolution can be submitted. Be aware that large images might take a considerable time to upload.
If you have difficulty uploading, contact Mike O’Connor at mail@mikeoc.com and we will make suitable arrangements.
Entries close on Friday 7 October.
Entries may be images previously submitted for judging or they may be new images. New images may still be used in club competition.
We will shortly be setting up a roster for members to man/ woman/ person the exhibition. We will organise two shifts each day and ask to have two members available for each shift.
We will also be seeking volunteers to help with setting up and taking down the exhibition display.
So get to and select or create the images you think best show off your own photographic skills.

Astro Photography – Winton Wetlands
Expressions of interest – either Thursday 21st or Sunday night 24th look ok at this stage. All levels brand new to experienced. You need a tripod (can lend one or two), a wide aperture lens eg 2.8 or lower, between 10mm-50mm. And warm clothing! Would probably try to meet before dark for the after sunset glow so approx 5.30 – 7.30pm.
Please advise via SMS to 0408 367 508 if interested and what date/s suit.

Presidential Prattle – July 2022
Hi folks. Hope you are all well, covid and flu-free.
- As we all look for photo opportunities the members and committee are constantly considering different locations and subjects we can all use for our photographic interests. As such, a couple of ideas have been floated but now really need the input of the full club membership. One idea was to encourage a weekend camp if you like. Not so much a tent-type camp, but one where we can get together at a caravan park, holiday flats, cabins or a similar overnight stay. If you wish to “camp” then that’s OK too. Suggested locations were Yackandandah, Harrietville, Bright and Beechworth, Beechworth being the favourite so far among initial discussions. So, please let any of the Committee members know your thoughts, ideas and suggestions as soon as possible as booking will be required especially for this year. We were thinking of doing this around October this year but suggested dates would be helpful. If we don’t get enough feedback very soon it may have to fall into next year.
- The Paatch Shield Lunch reservations are now required so please RSVP by 23rd of August 22 if you would like to go. Once again, it’s going to be held at the Town “N” Country Tavern, Wangaratta on the 28th of August, so get your reservations in quick to guarantee a seat.
- There has been keen interest by several members to gain skills in the use of Lightroom and/or Photoshop, or at least what these two programs can do to make your photos “Pop!” Because of the varied post-processing programs that are used by the membership and are currently available, the Committee thought we should focus on one program only (for the moment). We would like to cover what it can do, and how to use the key functions such as image resize, crop, exposure adjustment, and other useful tools such as “heal” and “image stacking” would be a great introduction. We first need a suggestion of which program to present such as LR or PS and then determine what key features of these we would like to learn. Any skilled member who would be willing to donate some of their time and skills at one of our meetings to help us facilitate this would be most welcome. Any other suggestions towards enhancing our member’s post-processing skills would be most welcome.
So, please respond to any of the three items presented with your ideas or RSVP as soon as you can so we can get the ball rolling.
Stay safe, stay well, and all the best.
Mark Tylinski and the Committee,
BCC
